Master of Public Safety

The Master’s programme in Public Safety provides professionals and managers with the core knowledge they need to steer their organisations towards a bright future. A future shaped by new technologies, new markets and new legislation. The programme is geared toward teaching participants how to combine business and technology. 

The programme, which was developed by TU Delft and the Netherlands Institute for Physical Safety (NIFV-Nibra), has been designed around the idea of risk, and centres on the cycle of becoming aware, analysis, management and control. This degree programme is at the interface between political/administrative flexibility and technical/operational inflexibility and aims to bring technology and management together. The programme teaches participants how to combine the various factors involved in risky situations and disasters.

  • Applications in the domain of public safety (Cases from practice)
  • Calculating effect and the human factor
  • Role of the law and legislation
  • Fire safety

Administrative module

  • Crisis management
  • Political and administrative management (in a changing society)
  • Information management
  • Learning to evaluate: towards safer systems
  • Network management and large projects

Master module

Integrating technology and business using a case study. Individual Master’s assignment tailored to the situation in the candidate’s own organisation.
