Industrial Ecology is an emergent scientific discipline that promotes a systemic approach to human problems, integrating technical, environmental and social aspects. Its purpose is to find solutions for environmental problems, to strengthen the market position of companies and thus give direction to sustainable economic development. For that reason Industrial Ecology is considered to be the ‘science of sustainability’. The postgraduate Master of Industrial Ecology offers participants a toolbox for sustainable development. The postgraduate Master of Industrial Ecology teaches participants the main disciplines relevant to Industrial Ecology and learns them to combine different technologies and methods of analysis in an appropriate manner. The programme integrates scientific knowledge with practical experience and market needs. Programme The Master of Industrial Ecology is a three-block programme, consisting of residential taught weeks, plus the thesis (Master Asssignment) and group work. The three blocks are Design for Industrial Ecology, Methods and Tools for Sustainability Analysis and Policy & Management of Industrial Ecology. After the programme a participant has a thorough knowledge and understanding in the different aspects of Industrial Ecology and can apply this knowledge on an academic level in a societal en technological context.
